Why ETICS?

The most widely deployed insulation solution in Europe.

The ETICS (External Thermal Insulation Composite System) is the most widely used external insulation solution in the world. An insulation board bonded and mechanically fixed to the existing facade, covered with a 3 to 8 mm reinforced render — this is the recipe for millions of successful renovations across Europe over the past 40 years. Simple, proven, effective.

QUASART, based in Crauthem (L-3327), is a certified applicator for Weber, Sto, Baumit and Caparol. We master all stages: substrate diagnosis, insulation selection (EPS, rock wool, wood fibre), layout and fixing, reinforcement, finish render. Financial assistance is available through the myenergy programme (Klimabonus) — visit myenergy.lu to check your eligibility.

System components

Adhesive, insulation, reinforcement, render — four layers, one system.

Adhesive + mechanical fixing

Insulation bonded with adhesive mortar then mechanically dowelled. 6 to 12 dowels/m² depending on height and wind exposure. Calculation per ETAG 004.

Insulation boards

White EPS, graphite EPS, rock wool, wood fibre or cork. Thickness 80 to 200 mm. Choice depends on budget, R target and fire constraints.

Fibreglass reinforcement

Mesh embedded in base coat. Impact resistance class I to IV. Double reinforcement at ground floor and exposed areas.

Finish render

Mineral, organic, silicone or silicone-silicate render. Grain 1.0 to 3.0 mm. Over 200 RAL/NCS colours.

Profiles & accessories

Starter profiles, corner profiles, expansion joint profiles, window sill profiles. Drip edge under sills. Every detail specified by the manufacturer.

Subsidies & grants

Installation

ETICS installation steps

An ETICS system is installed in 5 sequential steps — each layer must dry before the next.

01

Substrate diagnosis

Adhesion, flatness and moisture checks. Pull-off test. Treatment of cracks and rising damp.

02

Starter profile + bonding

Aluminium base profile (30 cm from ground). Panel bonding with adhesive mortar. Staggered layout.

Questions about ETICS

Everything you need to know before starting your project

A correctly installed ETICS system has a lifespan of 30 to 40 years. Weber, Sto, Baumit and Caparol systems have European Technical Approvals (ETA) certifying this durability. Visual inspection every 10 years recommended.

It depends on the substrate. A cracked, damp or non-cohesive wall must be treated. QUASART systematically carries out a substrate diagnosis. If the substrate is too degraded, a ventilated solution (StoVentec or cladding) is recommended.

EPS: lightweight, economical, adequate performance. Rock wool: non-combustible A2, good acoustic attenuation, mandatory in high-rise/public buildings. Wood fibre: best summer comfort, negative carbon footprint, more expensive. The choice depends on budget, fire constraints and desired comfort.

Financial assistance exists in Luxembourg for insulation works. The myenergy programme (Klimabonus) can cover part of your investment depending on current eligibility criteria. Visit myenergy.lu for details. QUASART provides the technical documents needed for your application.

Cost varies between 100 and 200 EUR/m² installed depending on insulation, thickness and render type. Scaffolding: 10-15% of budget. QUASART provides a precise quotation after substrate diagnosis.

No — ETICS exclusively receives a finish render. To combine insulation and cladding, a ventilated system (subframe + air gap) is required. QUASART offers both solutions.
